Longewala

Longewala

Longewala, a remote border post in Rajasthan’s Thar Desert, holds immense historical significance due to the 1971 Indo-Pak war. It was here that a small contingent of Indian soldiers bravely defended the post against a large-scale Pakistani tank assault. Today, the Longewala War Memorial, maintained by the Indian Army, showcases tanks, bunkers, and a museum that narrates the battle’s heroic tale. Visitors can witness real war relics and a short film honoring the bravery of soldiers. Surrounded by the desert's vast emptiness, Longewala stands as a powerful reminder of courage, sacrifice, and India’s military valor.
